Song of the Week: Sia changed for the better
Lauren Flax’s “You’ve Changed” is not only the most under-rated song of last year – I failed to include it on my year-end list of songs, Pitchfork neither, and pretty much everyone missed it (except, brilliantly, Sasha Frere-Jones) — but it gets me moving every single time I hear it. It’s a top-notch dance song, featuring vocals by Aussie pop singer and Zero 7 collaborator Sia (hear it here). Considering her solo work has underwhelmed, it’s a good move by Sia to cut her own version of Flax’s neo-classic, this time with fuller pop production. It’s not better – more a lateral move – but any more exposure for this song does the music world good.
