Netting Magloire

Somehow it got past me that Toronto-born free-agent centre Jamaal Magloire signed with the New Jersey Nets this off-season. I’ve always liked Magloire as a basketball player (he was an all-star a couple of seasons ago) and it would have been nice to see him in a Raptors jersey. But to add insult to injury, he signs with the Vince Carter-led Nets, who, of course, beat the Raptors in the first round of the playoffs this year. SI.com’s Ian Thomsen even writes that the Magloire signing could help the Nets “return to the NBA Finals.” Ouch.
