Icky

I like to celebrate—as well as practice, when possible—good writing. The following, however, is not an example of it. Here’s the lead, reprinted verbatim, from Robert Everett-Green’s review of the White Stripes’ new record, Icky Thump, in today’s Globe and Mail:
“For a people that takes prides in knowing who among the famous is more or less secretly Canadian, we sure were fooled by Jack White.”
